San Francisco, California  January 2015   We've decided to base ourselves in the city this year, as my mom lives at an assisted living center here.  So far, the weather has been mostly sunny (although we need the rain due to a severe drought) and not too cold.  But when the wind blows and the clouds roll it, it confirms our belief that we could never live here.  The tech boom has also made real estate prices out of our reach.  We're enjoying our stay here, while making plans for our next adventure.  Pat will be retiring at the end of the year....yea!

We've rented an apartment in the marina for the first three months, which is near the Golden Gate Bridge and the Presidio.  There's plenty of places to walk/bike/dine.

Armand visited us in February, and we went for a long hike through Crissy Fields, Bakers Beach and the Presidio.

The architecture is unique, and the hills of San Francisco are tough to climb....and drive!

We took the ferry to Sausalito where we had a great lunch and explored the town and harbor...we always enjoy looking at sailboats!

Another ferry boat road to Angel Island offers great hiking trails...

We're happy to have the opportunity to visit my mom often, and ensure she has the care she needs.  She lives at Kokoro Assisted Living Center in the Japantown area of San Francisco.  She has Alzheimer's, and up until now,  it's been a slow progression.  Recently her condition has worsened, both mentally and physically.  We hope for the best.

We've moved into an apartment at the base of Telegraph Hill, two blocks from the cruise ship dock along the Embarcadero.  This area is also very lively, with lots of great restaurants and farmer's market.

We are currently on a houseboat in Sausalito (located just across the Golden Gate Bridge from SF).  It has two decks and it is peaceful to be on the water.
